The year marches on regardless

Sam Simpson

So how are you doing? It seems like we have been in lockdown or been under restrictions forever now. I am at that age now that a year doesn't really begin until March and then it winds up pretty much in mid November. The rest of the time, it is just summer, Christmas, end of year functions and concerts and general preparation for fun times. So the fact that COVID19 started here in March, means that for all of my year, I have been in lockdown or under some tight restrictions. Like you all.

Look, there are many bad things about all of this, but there are some real positives to come out of it too. I'd like to think that my kids have been given the opportunity to develop skills and techniques that, in some cases, are years ahead of when they would normally have learnt them. Time management, self organisation and motivation, tech skills (in the case of the younger ones), and tolerance. Actually, that has been the hardest of all things to master......from all of us! At this point of COVID19, we are all WELL AND TRULY SICK TO DEATH OF EACH OTHER. But it is what it is and like most parents out there, I am immensely proud of what my kids have learnt and how they have managed themselves and each other through this.

But one thing that has given me cause to stop and think, is about Christmas presents. Regardless of whether travel restrictions are lifted or not, I am not about to go head first running around the big shopping centres, madly buying my Chrissy cheer as I do every other year. Even with a mask on. So what to do?

Online shopping. That's what.

Given the state of postage right now (quite slow), I am going to get a jump on buying my Chrissy presents now. I am going to make a conscious effort to buy from people like me; people that are small scale that care about the products they make and are not out to make millions, but to make a difference to their families as well as the people that buy their products. There are some damn talented people out there. So I will be doing the vast majority of my shopping online.

My own range of products will be launched over the next few weeks. I have new lines of cow, gargoyle, tractor and Christmas themed products almost ready to pop up on my website. I have not long taken delivery of some new sizes of insulated tumblers to decorate and I have some different t.shirt designs ready to go as well. And of course, Christmas glitter baubles....I have a HUGE box winging its way to me right now!!! If you have something in mind that you don't see on my site, please get in contact and I am happy to help. If I can't do something for you, I am bound to know someone that can!

Christmas orders will be open from now until November 30th (for a guaranteed delivery before Christmas). I am able to store any items for Christmas FREE OF CHARGE until they need to be delivered or posted later in the year.

Please refer anyone to me that you think might be interested. I don't invest in major advertising and I rely on word of mouth for the vast majority of my sales. So.....thanks if you can help me out!

Sam
